From a WOMAN'S SOUL

Through a WOMAN'S EYES

By a WOMAN'S HANDS

My earliest memories of a relationship to fibre arts come from my paternal grandmother Margaret Isabelle Patterson, affectionately known as Belle, which is my middle name.
"'Granny" as we called her taught me to knit and my sister Pat to crochet.

Granny was a large influence in my life and when my time was not spent productively or I misbehaved she would give me "time out"  by hooking the many rugs that she loved to make.

Later in life as a married mother of two, I took it upon myself to hook an eight foot
diameter carpet for my home, and since then have loved to challenge myself with ambitious projects.

I love to push the boundaries of my artistic abilities and for the most part I am indebted to my large library of self direction and the on going support offered as a member of the Sunshine Coast Spinners and Weavers Guild
Now as a grandmother myself I think of my Granny each time I use my hands to create something beautiful. (La Belle)
My artistic interests are in weaving, dyeing, hand coiled, burnished and sawdust fired pottery embellished with sculpture and always my fragrant gardens over looking the magnificence of Sechelt Inlet.
Over the years I have taken many art courses and workshops, completed my Interior Design at B.C.I.T., and Associate of Arts Degree at Capilano College.
